Microdentabrasion
Coffee and red wine drinkers will be stoked about a new dental technique on the market – Microdentabrasion. This non-invasive procedure will polish your teeth and remove stains on the layers underneath the surface of your teeth that are too stubborn to go away through regular at home dental hygiene.
How does it work?
You can do this easily over your lunch break – a Microdentabrasion session takes between 20-30 minutes. Your dentist will prepare a mixture of baking soda, water and possibly other ingredients and then use it to clean your teeth with a high-speed prophy-jet tool. It can get a bit messy throughout the procedure, but there is no downtime and the technique does not irritate teeth or gums, which makes it a great option for sensitive teeth.
Results
Microdentabrasion is in no way a substitute for regular dental cleaning as it doesn’t remove tartar – one of the main risk factors in developing cavities. What Microdentabrasion is excellent at is targeting stains from tea, coffee, wine, etc. that affect the layers underneath your tooth surface. The results typically last up to 3 months. Since it’s a non-invasive procedure, Microdentabrasion can be used as often as needed, and there is no downtime. It’ll make your teeth whiter, smoother and more dazzling than ever!
Cost
The cost of Microdentabrasion will differ at each dental office, but on average the 30-minute session ranges between $150-200.
